Relatives of Winston Jhiney Perreira missing since 2002 are asking members of the public for help in locating his whereabouts.
Perreira was born on May 7, 1952. He traveled to Suriname on a regular basis and was issued a residency permit for that country on May 8, 1992. He also lived at YY 5 North East La Penitence, Georgetown Guyana during his adult life. Perreira was an employee of Central Garage from November 1994 to September 2000.
Mr. Perreira was last seen in 2002 in Georgetown, Guyana. He was allegedly picked up from his residence by police officers who were said to be taking him to a police station following an altercation with a female acquaintance. Family members say he has not been seen since.
His family members in the USA became concerned when they did not hear from him for a regular telephone chat. He was receiving a monthly payment from a family member which he did not cash. His passport, ID, and bank papers were left in his house. And, his last known employer Central Garage reported that his last paycheck and his bicycle were still being held at the establishment two years after his last sighting.
Over the years, family members visiting Guyana have made inquiries and past stories have been run in local Guyanese media written and television.
Perriera’s family still holds out hope that even after all this time someone may know something about what happened to their missing relative. Anyone with information about the disappearance of Winston Perriera, or with knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to contact info@GuyanaGraphic.com.
