Guyana needs to develop a sustainable electrical power generation strategy using the principle of decentralized power generation.

In light of the routine extended power interruptions in Guyana, it is imperative that the government adopts a strategy that prioritizes innovative solutions.

Developing a sustainable electrical power generation strategy for Guyana based on decentralized power generation principles, while addressing significant line losses due to an inadequate distribution grid, requires a comprehensive approach. Here’s a strategy tailored to these challenges:

  1. Promotion of Distributed Renewable Energy: Encourage the widespread adoption of distributed renewable energy systems, such as solar photovoltaic (PV) panels and small-scale wind turbines, particularly in areas with high line losses. Provide incentives, subsidies, and financing options to facilitate the installation of these systems for residential, commercial, and industrial users.
