CIMBUX, Committee for the Improvement of Buxton had prepared for an afternoon of fun, food and fellowship. As attendees climbed the stairs of the park into the pavilion they were literally taking a stroll down memory lane. Signs with notable Buxton street names were dotted along the way. Music from the DJ helped to set the mood with folks songs, calypso and soca tunes ringing through the afternoon.

The CIMBUX event was arranged to thank friends and supporters of the organization with complimentary food and drinks. Attendees were treated to chicken curry, chow-mein, cook-up rice, bbq and jerk chicken and grilled corn.
As the afternoon moved into early evening Mr. Horace Azore, Vice-President and Education and Culture committee chairperson, took a few moments to thank everyone present, remind them about the mission of the organization and talked about the next event occurring in November. Bags were also distributed with goodies for children who were returning to school for the new semester.
Mr. Gladstone Marcus, President of CIMBUX thanked everyone for attending and spent some time paying tribute to Mr. Oscar Henry well known as Joe Phil. Joe was one of the founding members of CIMBUX who had very recently passed and was remembered for his dedication, passion and contribution to CIMBUX in addition to his humor.
Throughout the event laughter rang through park as friends old and new reminisced about their “small days”, “old time” stories and where everyone was now. As the event wound down and people began to leave, all agreed that they were looking forward to the next gathering.
A tribute was also paid to Ms. Elaine Greene (Mother Greene), one of the founding patrons of CIMBUX who recently celebrated her 92nd birthday.
