HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Ms. Victorine Creavalle from the staff of Guyana Graphic.

Victorine Creavalle was born in New Amsterdam, Berbice, Guyana on May 24, 1920 to parents Harold and Adriana Holder. She was married to Albert (Sonny Creavalle) for 48 years until his death in 1997. Sonny retired as Crime Chief of The Guyana Police Force and Chief Security Officer at Guymine, Linden.

She was the oldest of four children, Victor, Henry and Bill Holder. She spent much of her childhood in various parts of Guyana as her dad was a sanitary inspector.

She is the mother of 8 children, five daughters and three sons. Joy Creavalle, Wendy Ainsworth, Albert {Dick} Creavalle, Michael Creavalle, June Williams, Charles Creavalle, Cheryl Fox and Corinne Jobe.  She has 22 grandchildren, fifty -one great-grand-children and two great-great-grandchildren.

The married years were spent raising the family in Triumph Village, E.C.D. then moving to South Cummingsburg, Georgetown in the mid ’60s until emigrating to the Maryland area of the United States in 1984.

Mrs. Creavalle who held a trained teacher’s certificate spent 35 years teaching to include St Mary ‘s the Virgin Anglican School in Beterverwagting, E.C.D and served as Headmistress at La Bonne Intention (LBI) Anglican School. She also managed to give her students extra lessons in her home beyond the classroom hours as they became her extended family.

Her emphasis on education stood her in good stead as most of the generations are degreed in various fields and are gainfully employed in different parts of the United States.  Four of the great-grand-children are currently in university.

She is much beloved and cared for by her family as her model of faithfulness to the tasks assigned to her over the years were pursued and accomplished. These included caring for her Mom until her passing at 93. She also babysat many of her grand-children and prepared many meals for the family until her late eighty’s.

She is a virtuous woman whose faith in God, love for family, a very generous heart, love for an ever-increasing circle of friends and a zeal for life, continues her life’s pilgrimage surrounded by her daughter Joy and three other caregivers.

Her legacy is that of dedication and love for God, family and country. It is one of modeling that one desires others to follow, that of selfless service. She has taught us that you can move through obstacles, go over hurdles and keep walking in spite of life’s challenges. Her emphasis on education has secured the generations and those to come. Her wisdom, knowledge and understanding are remarkable. She has fought for justice and fairness among the family and would still be lending a helping hand if she were able to do. We are tremendously blessed and fortunate to call her Mom and Granny our Proverbs 31 woman. Her works are praising her all over the earth. We are blessed to have her in our lives in this new era. For With God nothing Shall be impossible to those that believe!!!!
