John “Kevin” O’Dowd passed away peacefully at Carpenter Hospice on Saturday, June 7, 2014. Kevin, son of John Patrick O’Dowd (deceased) and Tessa O’Dowd (now Gonsalves) was born in Guyana on September 20, 1956.
Kevin was schooled in Ireland and England and had a passion for travelling and meeting new friends as well as writing, books and art. Kevin arrived in Canada in 1977 with his mother Tessa and step-father Terence “Terry” Gonsalves and his younger brother Trevor Patrick O’Dowd.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Geri Love, mother Tessa, brother Trevor, step-children Christopher and Danielle Love, Melanie and Ben Halsall and their children (step-grandchildren) Alexandra and Cole Halsall and many other countless friends and loved ones he met along his journey in life.
The family would like to thank Dwayne and Sandy DeFreitas, Peggy and Frank Dowe and the “angels” at Carpenter Hospice for their love and support in his final days.
Visitation at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Thursday from 6-9 p.m. where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate instead donations made to the Carpenter Hospice or Canadian Cancer Society
