Morna Hazel Azore; August 17, 1951 – March 30, 2022

Morna Hazel Azore, nee Hazel Baird aged 70, died at the Princeton Hospital March 30, 2022 She was born in Georgetown, Guyana on August 17, 1951 to deceased parents Abraham Sr., and Daphne Baird.

Morna’s early education was received in Guyana at Goed Fortuin Government School. She later attended and graduated from the Carnegie School of Home Economics in Georgetown

Guyana where she mastered her cooking skills, then spent quite a few years of employment with the Beacon Foundation (Restaurant), Guyana Defense Force (Guyana army) and a few years as a preschool teacher. The culinary training that she acquired from the School of Home Economics enabled her to provide tasty meals for guests, friends and visitors to Georgetown.

She migrated to the USA in the early 90’s and settled initially in Maryland for a few years enjoying employment at a nursing home as a CNA. Morna then transferred her license to New Jersey 111 2004 where she was employed by Morris Hall (St. Lawrence Rehabilitation Center). She left that Company to perform private duty as a nurs1l1g assistant for a few years. Morna lived for quite a few years at the French Towers Apartments for senior citizens at 630 West State Street Trenton 08618. Prior to her passing she spent just over 2 years as a resident at the Merwick Care and Rehabilitation Center, Plainsboro, NJ. She passed at the Princeton Hospital on March 30, 2022.

Morna is survived by her siblings Elmer, Euralle, Alonzo, Patricia Baird-Mingo, and Abraham Jr. (Everette) residing in the USA; aunt Gwendolyn Lawson; her nieces and nephews Nicole, Angeli, Rondella, Terraughn, Tisha, Keriann, Derron, Deicia, Darren, Ronald, lorenzo, Atea, Aquiba, Omotasho, Alonzo jnr. and Lawrence of the USA and 10 other nieces and nephews in Guyana; Yurihanna Vyphuis of Antigua; sisters-in-law Marva Baird, Cherrell Baird, Tracey Smith-Baird and brothers-in law Clyde Mingo and Errol Azore; cousins Tommy Lucas of the UK; Juliana, [enifler, Christopher, Colin and lanita Lawson, Jen Bednarz and Greg Bogado of New Jersey; Michelle Delli of Florida; Denise Perry, the Assanahs, Higginses, Gul­livers, Cedric Baird and others of New York; Barbara Chow-Yen and others of Connecticut; the Baird’s ofGoed Fortuin and Meten-Meer-Zorg in Guyana; the Johnsons and the Henrys of Vergenoegen; the Scotts of Anns Grove, the Higginses of Plaisance; Carmen Hinds and the Bairds of the Essequibo, Guyana, Lynette Batrd-Fiedtkou of Georgetown, Guyana; her friends Monty Hamilton, Shirley, Barbara, Euna and Russel Noble.
