The Guyana Civil Aviation Authority has confirmed that members of the Guyana Defence Force Special Forces have successfully reached the crash site of a downed aircraft operated by Air Services Limited, marking a somber development in an ongoing aviation incident.
According to an official statement issued on Monday, the aircraft, identified as a Cessna 208 Caravan bearing registration number 8R-YAC, had crashed in a remote location, prompting a coordinated search-and-rescue operation led by the Rescue Coordination Center.
Recovery Operation in Challenging Terrain
Special Forces personnel navigated difficult terrain to access the crash site, where they confirmed the death of the pilot, Captain Rider Castillo. The body has since been recovered, and preparations are underway to extract it from the area.
